2004 Besson Roussanne The tiny Besson family Roussanne vineyard yielded a scant 85 gallons in 2004. We cellared a single French oak barrel for 9 months with the balance in stainless steel, creating a much different wine than the 2003 Roussanne. The aromas are floral and austere, with a surprising bread and oak note from long lees contact. Flavors of green apple and grapefruit dominate with nuances of honey and lemon zest. Overall a very different and complex wine, this should be served chilled at 55 degrees. It will pair well with an heirloom tomato salad, or a petrale sole with fruit salsa.
