2003 Estate Pinot Noir Gold Medal, 2006 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition
Our tiny Estate Pinot Noir vineyard, planted in 1989, is shy-bearing and only produces enough fruit for about 200 cases per year of wine. In the glass, the wine’s youth is indicated by its full ruby color still showing a slight purplish edge around its perimeter. Aromas of perfumed violet are met initially, backed by vanilla and a smoky earthiness from our French barrels. Flavors reinforce the floral impressions of the nose, combining with a burst of cherry and strawberry fruit. A lengthy finish reminds us of Pinot Noir’s ability to match intensity with subtle texture. Please enjoy this wine now, with the promise that further aging will likely be rewarded.
