2005 Steel Blue Chardonnay For many years, Sarah’s Vineyard has produced Chardonnay with a light touch of oak, in the classic Burgundian style; a departure from the typical oakey-buttery California style that has always been appreciated by discerning wine drinkers! This year, we are going a step further and introducing an unoaked Chardonnay, which we’re calling Steel Blue. To emphasize the uniqueness of this stainless steel aged wine we’ve packaged it in a bold blue bottle. It looks swell on the table and will make a great holiday gift.
The wine has lovely aromas of honeysuckle, ripe mango and pear. Crisp and lean, it shows flavors of pear and ripe Golden Delicious apple with tiny hints of mint, on a background reminiscent of a Sauvignon Blanc. This is a lovely wine for sipping on a warm afternoon and will pair wonderfully with fish or seafoods, salads with light vinaigrette- or fruit-based dressing, crudite, or an afternoon bowl of fresh fruit.
